What is Music Therapy?

MUSIC THERAPY combines musical experience with non-musical goals. Such goals can include improving coping skills, relationships, self-awareness, and confidence. Sessions can include musically-guided imagery, songwriting, breathwork, or guided relaxation to music. Prior musical training is not needed in order to benefit from Music Therapy. Everyone can benefit!

 Who can practice music therapy?

MUSIC THERAPY is a profession that requires a Masters-level degree in Music Therapy, supervised clinical training, board-certification, and ongoing continuing education.  Only those professionals with the required education, training, and credentials may call themselves music therapists.  This adheres to ethical codes and standards of practice as set forth by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA).  For more information, please click on the following link:   http://www.musictherapy.org/
